Kate began her career helping guests fully experience the famed West Edmonton Mall and Fantasyland Hotel which allowed her to hone her skills in the leisure travel and association markets. She also devoted much of her time to volunteerism, expanding her communications and international relations skills.
Kate joined Economic Development Edmonton with a portfolio that included Edmonton Tourism and the Shaw Convention Centre, followed by a position with Northlands Park (one of Alberta’s largest event venues) and then a move to head up the media relations department of Travel Alberta. Leading an international team of public relations specialists she went global with Alberta stories. She was also invited to sit on the Canadian Tourism Commission’s US Media Committee and worked with colleagues from across the nation in promotion of Canada’s tourism product.
With a move to the West Coast in 2004 she was appointed public relations manager for Metropolitan Hotels (Diva at the Met), followed by regional public relations director for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and then held contracts with Tourism B.C. before joining The Tartan Group in 2009 as executive director, travel, tourism and hospitality.
With an impressive portfolio of work in tourism pr and hospitality along with an extensive network of media relations, Kate brings an unparalleled skill set to the Tartan Group.
When not connecting with clients and media, Kate spends her time connecting with nature, hiking the back country of British Columbia.
